Meet Our Team

Camp Forktail Creek is the brain-child of Ritish Suri. Years of living in
the jungle have convinced him that tourists as well as hoteliers in
national parks need to be more aware of jungle ecology. A keen
naturalist, he loves to share his knowledge about the jungle - its
flora, birds and animals, with guests.

Minakshi Pandey, Ritish’s wife, calls herself The Woman in the Camp.
Fun loving, warm and friendly, she trained to be a river guide, worked
with a travel company and did some travel writing before Camp
Forktail Creek happened to her. Happy to be away from city lights,
she makes sure all the creases in the Camp are efficiently ironed out.

Harish Arya, the chef, is a man of many talents. With his team he
ladles out sumptuous meals day after day. Catch him in the right
mood and he’ll even play his flute for you… Lovely!

A core team of smiley faced and very hard working boys from villages around manage the dining area, serve the meals and keep the mud huts spotlessly clean.

Hailing from the first batch of trained naturalists in Corbett, Govind Bisht, has been guiding trips for close to two decades. He is also one of the oldest angling guides you could hope to find. Spending a day in the wild with Govindda is an education in itself.

Harry (Harish Bisht), is a local boy from Bhakrakot village, who has grown up in the Camp and bloomed into a fine naturalist and expert tracker, both on foot and by jeep.

Ganesh our expert tracker & driver with an ever-smiling face is an asset to have around on those long jungle days.

Vrushal Pendharkar, who’s spent a couple of years in the Tiger Reserves of Central India and Nandan Rawat, a trained and licensed guide of Corbett Tiger Reserve, are the newest additions to the team at Camp Forktail Creek.

Lastly, the Camp babies, Bhalu, Titali, Dacoo and Chotee, the four 'Bhutia' dogs. Their names mean Bear, Butterfly, Dacoit and Small One -- you have to meet them to decide if they have been aptly named or not!

Camp Forktail Creek is what it is because of the people who have spent time there in the past. Harish Arya helped to set up and ran the camp for ten wonderful years. Kunwar Singh Rawat was the most interesting, informative and hands-on naturalist the Camp had.

Bacchi Bisht, a trained naturalist, freelanced and helped at Camp, endearing himself to everyone with his cheery smile. Conan Dumenil came to Camp in 2004 as a trainee naturalist, and ended leaving his deft touch all over Camp! Lij (Elizabeth Fishbourne), Becky (Rebecca Scarrott) & Duco who visited and volunteered with us for a few months were the greatest help ever!
